[Del] key unassigned after Ouick Search

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[Del] key unassigned after Ouick Search

Post by *dna »

I use frequently Quick search in current dir (with option 'Letters - with search dialog') and 'Ending' matching.

On selected or on current entry will only [F8] or [Shift]+[F8] for delete action work. The [Del] key is not assigned.

It's a sort of irritating bug since version TC 8+ or earlier.

Thanks for your attention,
dna

---

The Del key is assigned to the search dialog box while it is open - that is practical because you can use it for editing the string in the dialog box.

But [F8] and [Shift]+[F8] works without hitting [ESC] / closing of these dialog.
Is [Del] in other keyboard layouts also assigned to ^H (delete the last char) like [Backspace]?

Thank you for your hint and reply,

That is because F8 and Shift+F8 wouldn't give any meaning for textbox editing, while Del, Backspace, Home, End, Shift-Home, Shift+End, Ctrl+V, Ctrl?C, Ctrl?X, LefttArrow and RightArrow keys does give meaning.

Del deletes the character to the right of the carét, BackSpace deletes to the left. If one or more characters are selected then Del deletes them all - as do Backspace.

It is basically like any other textbox, exept you cannot type strings that doesn't exits in the filenames in the panel above.

Um, now that it you say it out loud.

Sorry, my damage.
(Line editing is more an automatic task without any reflection.)
