downlading with saving server structure

Post by *cooz »

hello,
is it possible to download list of files (loaded from text file) using Total Commander Background transfer manager not to one directory, but with saving server structure (with sub-directories) - if not maybe someone knows any good prog which can do that...

You can login to the server, select all directories you want to download, press F5, and select "Download later (add to download list)". This list is in a text file, you can write similar files like this and use them later. In the help:
FTP Download from list
Downloads all files from a user-created list file to the given directory. The list file must contain a list of URLs to files or subdirs (like ftp://ftp.server.com/subdir/file.zip). It may also contain a relative or absolute destination name, separated by an arrow (ftp://ftp.server.com/subdir/file.zip -> c:\local\file.zip). You can add a file to the download list by right clicking on it during an ftp connection, and choosing 'add to download list'. This function also allows to download from WEB servers (http//www.server.com).
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

cool way but unfortunately i cant explore server on which are those files which i want to download - im generating list of about 8000 files (i think it's not so important to explain here how i do it ;) ) and i rather cant think up how to change this huge list to adding on the end of every line something like: " -> d:\photos\directory[number]\" ...any good massive text editor? :D

Just to name a few:

ConTEXT

Others will add a number of editors, im sure :-)

Can't you leave out the " -> " part and download the files and structures to one directory? Or is this not what you want?

to SanskritFritz & Clo:

sorry to say but i found WinHTTrack - prog to d/l whole web sites, it was not created to my task but it can download this list of files, so now i think here is no longer good place to talk about my problem - it has no connection with tcmd...

to white:

hmm, if i download those files without entering target dir, i'll have all files in on folder, and then i have to copy every 256 files to one of diffrent 30 folders, and location of this files to every directory is rather random so it would be big challenge ;)

ps
if anybody wants to know, im downloading aerial maps (made from a flying plane ;) ) of whole province Malopolska - part of Poland where i live...
