Install failing

Post by *Mervyn »

I have a registered copy of 4.53. I've bought a new laptop, but it will not install. I've checked the media by trying it on another pc and it installs fine.
I will want to upgrade, but I have to get the old one installed before I can upgrade.

The install procedure seems to work ok, asking me the language question, the folder etc. - but all I get is a folder with one file in it (wincmd.key) - no application, no desktop shortcut etc. I've tried deleting the folder and trying again, but no success.

I'm using XP pro on a new Sony Vaio.

Any ideas?

Just install the new version first (6.03a) then copy your wincmd.key in the installation folder

Thank you - that worked.

I'd be lost without Commander - with 5 Unix servers and a large collection of new and old PC's, Commander (plus a GSM card) enables my laptop to move and edit any file anywhere in the correct format.
