[9.0a x86] Search with Everything fails to search in links

When I create a folder symlink or junction and enter it, search finds nothing until I disable Everything... A workaround here may be passing link target to Everything...

Also Everything never follows inner symlinks or junctions during search... I don't know if there are any workarounds. I use Everything 1.4.1.


Quite unexpected and unpleasant behaviour, I would say.

Everything uses the MFT (master file table) for searching. The MFT knows nothing about symlinks/junctions, there are just files with a target directory inside.

I understand it, but I think it is a problem for TC because it can't search through links using Everything and user isn't aware of such situations...

Mmh, I am only a user and on this topic by no means an expert, but I think Everything follows junctions in the search,
provided that in the settings under "Indexes" - "NTFS" - "Local NTFS volumes" the junction (e.g. C:\_Quelle\D-I\)
is included in the database (... must be ticked!). If not ticked, then nothing will be found.

Well, I think that only mount points (volume links) should be listed there, not just folder links...
Anyway, the problem is that Everything may omit some search results under some conditions while w/o it TC could return them...
