Have you tried using some repair tools to fix the video files?

Obviously, doing this on copies, not on the original files. Maybe it is a file header problem which can be easily fixed using this kind of tools. I've repaired some files (sometimes I didn't have good luck).

If these files aren't very private, then could you post one such file, so we might analyze its headers etc. to see if it's repairable at all?..
