Multiple Crash with Total Commander

Post by *tobeck » 2018-01-28, 10:47 UTC

Hello,
(I can not speak English, but still try to describe the mistake as well as possible)

Since a few days ago Total Commander quits with the message: Total stops working (closing).

Therefore, I would like to make my error description out of Windows available to the developer.

Day of the crash message
11.01.2018 APPCRASH - Shell.dll
16.01.2018 BEX64 - StackHash_b4ee
20.01.2018 APPCRASH - ntdll.dll
25.01.2018 BEX64 - StakHash_b4ee
27.01.2018 APPCRASH - ntdll.dll
27.01.2018 APPCRASH - ntdll.dll
28.01.2018 APPCRASH - ntdll.dll

Here the error report created by Windows, for the last current crash of 28.01.2018:

I use version 9.1.2. Apparently Total Commander is not stable on my system, especially because it was "simple" stuff (COPY, DELETE), and no other programs were running in the background.

I have already completely reset the "settings" by deleting the file.

If there are more error logs on my computer, I need to know where to find them.

I think these problems are only related to my PC, but I would like to contact the developer anyway.

With friendly greetings
Tobias Eckert

You may take a look in these folders:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Temp\
- Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 1709 (Build 16299.192) -

If you have ticked "Create a log file:" in TC under
a) Configuration > Options... > Log file ... then you should find the logfile under %TEMP%\totalcmd.log *)
b) Configuration > Options... > FTP ........ then you should find the logfile under %TEMP%\tcftp.log *)

*) Enter this in the command line of TC: cd %TEMP%

TC Log Viewer (... did not try it by myself)

Thanks for the answer.
I would like to write my report here, but I get the message every time that I first have to be here 1 day in the forum, or at least 1 post must have written to also URLs to post. Not even the report I can write here. Therefore here my 1.ter post. The 2.te follows afterwards.

Sincerely
Tobias Eckert

You seem to be German, so I'm sending you the instructions in German.

Ich benötige einen Stacktrace. Sie können das Tool Procdump benutzen,
um einen solchen zu erzeugen:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx

1. Neues Verzeichnis c:\dumps o.ä. anlegen
c:\pfad\procdump.exe -ma -i c:\dumps
5. Wichtig: Auf "Erweitert" klicken und "Als Administrator" aktivieren
6. Procdump über diese Verknüpfung starten
7. Warten bis der Absturz auftritt.
8. Mir den Crashdump aus c:\dumps an cghisler at gmail punkt com schicken (gezippt, nur einen!).
