I don't think that this is necessary because the special characters aren't indexed, to my knowledge.

Maybe I am missing it, but clicking "Total Commander" at the top of the forum page used to take you to the Total Commander web site. Now it just takes you to the home page of the forum. Is there another location on the forum page that jumps you to the TC web page? (Or do I just need to click the menu item in Total Commander?!)

I haven't received any e-mail notifications from the new board, even though I have set it up to send e-mail notifications: Image: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/boardnotifications.png

It worked with: https://www.ghisler.ch/phpBB3/ - last time I tried the 15th of July, but now it doesn't work there either.

So maybe there is something wrong with the outgoing mail server on ghisler.ch

You already had problems with the confirmation mail from the test forum, so I don't think it's our forum's fault.

Btw, I have now added a legend to the test forum, what do you think? See:
https://www.ghisler.ch/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=2
I have added the lower 2 rows (6 icons) because they were not described in the original.

That was with a completely different email address, than the one I use here.
BTW - I still get notifications from https://www.ghisler.ch/phpBB3/ - it just takes more than an hour before they turn up - that's why I wrote that I didn't get any - and that is to the same email address as here on this forum.

Does anybody else not get email notifications? Notice you have to enable them in the User Control Panel, they are not enabled by default

See:
https://www.ghisler.ch/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=2

Nice - I also see a row of icons in the bottom of https://www.ghisler.ch/phpBB3/index.php -There were more earlier today - Are you going to implement them too?

I removed them because I think they are not used in our board.

I don't, and i was wondering about it. If they have been enabled, it seems the mailer is not working.

OK, the "hot" keyword is more... hot than "popular" :) but for the sake of uniformity, perhaps it should be changed in the last 2 rows.

I wonder, why do all usernames (in post details) are in red colour, as if they belong to Administrators group?
This was to show which links are adding the name to the quick reply (red), and which lead to the user info page (black). I have changed that now to show a * in front of the name. If you have a better idea, then please let me know.
It might be more clear if instead of *, a > existed, but i'm not sure if this character would be acceptable at that point, since it's a special character.

I like the touch about GDPR in user controlpanel. Couldn't find more info on it though. Is it an addon or something built-in in phpbb?
It's a mod. You can find it here:
https://tas2580.net/downloads/phpbb-privacyprotection/
Great. Thanks.

Yes, me. Despite having set the email notification to enabled I don't get any emails (I checked the spam folder, too).

I can now use Firefox (Waterfox) to post messages. :D
This was not possible for me with the old forum, where I had to open the page in Crome to reply - or to write a new message.
So thumbs up for the change! :mrgreen:

Christian,
The topic names in the Slovak / Czech forum are still... "ampersand-y".

Same here.
All notifications enabled.
Last received topic reply e-mail notification from the main forum (ghisler.ch/board) was from 2018-07-20 22:57 (UTC+2)
Last received topic reply e-mail notification from the test forum (ghisler.ch/phpBB3) was from 2018-07-15 15:01 (UTC+2)

Spam-folder from 1&1 Web-mailer is empty.

If i remember well the first e-mail notification from test forum was delayed by at least 6 hours. But meanwhile some notifications from the board should have been arrived here.

Regards
Holger

I will try to find out why mails don't work.

2Hacker
The topic names in the Slovak / Czech forum are still... "ampersand-y".
All remaining fields should be fixed now.
Here is the php script I last used for fixing remaining fields, if anyone has the same problem in his forum. Set $test=false; to actually apply the changes. If the script stops due to a timeout, it can simply be restarted to convert the remaining data.

Code: Select all

<?php

$test=true;

header( 'Content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8' );

define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = (defined('PHPBB_ROOT_PATH')) ? PHPBB_ROOT_PATH : './';
$phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__, '.'), 1);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_display.' . $phpEx);
require($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_user.' . $phpEx);
header ('Expires: 0');
header ('Pragma: no-cache');

echo "<html><head></head><body></p>";
echo "Searching for faulty data:<br>";

// Note: Tried all tables, only the following contain problematic fields:
$tables = array('phpbb_topics','phpbb_users','phpbb_posts','phpbb_profile_fields_data');

foreach ($tables as $tablename) {
	$sql = 'SHOW columns FROM '. $tablename .' WHERE 1';
	$result = $db->sql_query($sql);
	$field_rows = array();
	while ($row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result)) {
		if (strpos($row['Type'], "varchar") === 0) {
			$fielddata=$row['Field'];
			$field_rows[] = $fielddata;
		}
	}
	$db->sql_freeresult($result);
	foreach ($field_rows as $field) {
		$data_rows = array();
		$sql = 'SELECT * FROM `'. $tablename .'`
			WHERE `'.$field.'` REGEXP ".*&#.*"';
		$result = $db->sql_query($sql);
		if ($row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result)) {
			$data_rows[] = $row;
			echo "========================================<br>\n";
			echo $tablename.": ".$field."<br>\n";
			while ($row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result))
			{
				$data_rows[] = $row;
			}
		}
		$db->sql_freeresult($result);
		foreach ($data_rows as $data_row) {
			$text=$data_row[$field];
			$text2=str_replace('&#','&#',$text);
			if ($tablename=='phpbb_topics')

Mails should work now! I have re-sent all forum registration confirmations since Sunday now. The problem was that "send via smtp server" was set, and it didn't seem to work. After disabling that, a test mail to my GMail account worked for me.
