.sfv assosiation - PLZ HELP

1. Open regedit
2. delete key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.sfv
3. delete key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.sfv
4. delete entry .sfv in key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Extensions
Reinstall the application you want to use with .sfv-files or if it's just an exe:
user dependent file association in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.sfv:
mark an .sfv-file -> right click -> open with -> check always open -> browse the program to use
and/or
machine dependent file association in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.sfv AND user dependent file association in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Extensions (the latter working in TC only, not Explorer!):
mark an .sfv-file -> files -> associate with -> New type -> browse the program to use

Hello Jeff !
¤ For me, the program which uses *.SFV is … TC !
* Whether it should show an association (in the GeorgGG's case, Notepad is rather odd and useless), I'ld simply use "Associate with…" to set <associate with "none">.
Then, with a double-click on the file, I get the checking result box of TC. It does the trick for me.

So, you think with "original program" he means TC?
Maybe, maybe not.
Oops, you are right.
It does indeed delete the key I mentioned above in 2. and the entry in 4. but it does not delete the key in 3. but instead it only deletes the entry "ProgID" which destroys open with behaviour in Explorer. In fact, that's a TC bug or let's say "not very nice" to delete entries it is not able to rebuild...
So GeorgeGG:
If you want to check sfv-files in TC only and not in Explorer, on Desktop, etc... just do what I have told you in point 1-4 and ignore the rest of my posting or use Clo's proposal, it is sufficient and easier probably.
