I have two XML files, which I want to compare. But when I use the file compare I can see the changes, but I cannot edit the files.
Also, when I load one of the files (when the compare screen is open) I cannot edit/save the file as of a sharing violation exception.
Both files are PC/ANSI encoded.
I've never noticed this problem before...
I can post the files, but I don't know how to do that here... (dont see an option to do that)

Sorry for asking the obvious - but have you pressed the "Edit mode" button in the "Compare contents" window?

My guess is that the files are too large, so TC locks them (which causes them to be non-writeable outside of TC). The limit was something around 2 MB IIRC (for both files).

Re: Filecompare does not suport editing and locks file for external editing
The problem isn't the file size but the line length: XML files often don't have any line breaks. TC cannot edit files with such long lines.
