TC bug: disappearing dirs' counted size

It is still a bug as it makes no sense to autoreread a directory when nothing has changed.
It works with all other sorting options without any problems so what's the point in rereading automatically only when sorting by size is activated?

Well, I don't think that this needs 30 hours of work for ghisler so I hope he will fix the bug in the next release.

It's called sarcasm.
Besides that it is very useful workaround till ghisler decides to fix the bug at least for those drives you haven't locked with "noreread".

I have confirmed the bug, I have supported your opinion that this is indeed a bug, what else do you want from me?

I have no interest in discussing stupid wordsplitting.
If you know that bug since 4.x why have you waited for years till you decided to post the bug report here? I have never noticed the bug because I have other things to do than counting directory sizes and switching tasks the whole time.

It's not a bug just because you or someone else is annoyed by something. A bug can be considered a feature by someone else, we have had such occasions in the past, you can be sure that I know what I am talking about.

 Well, well, finally, I guess that this «horrible bug» was not noticed sooner because the most users set directories always sorted by name, that is the handiest display in my opinion.
Now, like you said, we have to wait for the Ch. Ghisler's point of view… perhaps.

• Right, but it's the same than when switching to another program : if you use <space-bar> to display the dir-sizes, the sizes stay.

Actually it's not a bug, it's the normal refresh function when TC is reactivated: When you switch from another program to Total Commander, the dirs in the two panels are re-read. However, the panels are only refreshed if anything in these dirs has changed. This is determined via a checksum function. So if some other program has modified the dir, e.g. saved a file in that dir, then TC has to refresh the display. Since the dir sizes cannot be reliably copied from the old dir listing to the new one, they are left out.

This can not be true. If you do not do anythoing but change the focus and come back to TC the count of dirs disappears. But only when you sort by size. If you sort by name or date you can switch and the dir count is still displayed.
