Some helpful hints (edited):
* Change sort order for directories. Go to Configuration > Display > Sorting directories: (*) Like files (also by time)
* Press Ctrl+F7 to use unsorted view.
In this case all possible refresh icons should be visible on the first subdirectories and you should see the same results for both normal and dark mode.

I did test only 32-bit TC in Windows XP, but results are positive (listed for unsorted view, asterisks * are for nesting level ):

* In TOOLS directory - first 8 subdirectories starting from "FileZilla" to "Ditto", in total 32 subdirs
** In TOOLS\FileZilla - "resources" (the first one from 2 subdirs)
*** In TOOLS\FileZilla\resources - "tango" (the first one)
** In TOOLS \Foobar - "configuration" and "user-components" (two first subdirs)
*** In TOOLS\Foobar\configuration - "jsplalist" (the first one)
** etc. in other TOOLS subdirs

Finally, somehow unexpected result in the first subdir of the second dir

** PLUGINS\WLX - "Imagine" subdir (the first one in the first one)

No more results in any next dir or subdir.

Number of subdirs with refresh icon seems to be a power of 2: 2^0, 2^1, 2^2, 2^3 - it's a result of new algorithm and its changes starting from here:

I can confirm that several of the folders in https://bitsend.jp/download/73bbad59af3fdbf1d135833dc2431d96.html has the refresh icon overlay showing.

Like here: https://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/rarfileiconbug.png - notice that I use unsorted view - and it is then always some of the first archives that has the refresh overlay showing.

I tried repacking the files with the command line rar.exe (version 5.61 64bit) - https://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/TotalCmd950_64repacked.rar - but no difference.

The option lcp_darkmode=128 should put under

That's not something you can set. It's a parameter sent to the plugin, so the plugin writer knows when to show plugin data with dark background.

I was able to reproduce the problem with the refresh icon, thanks!

Confirm fixed in b13, now the folder icon is normal
