How do I get a tree view for a drive other than C: ?
I tried to do this for about 10 minutes. Any time I try to change the view for a pane to Tree View, it defaults to C:. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to display another drive.

Hello !
¤ You get always the tree of C: whether you have a network-drive in the active panel.
* If you have a real physical drive in the same workstation, you get the tree for that drive in the panel.
Example : in a PC, I've 3 drives in two hard-disks C: - D: - E: - I get alright the tree for each drive.
- On my Lan server, I've a single HD, and only C: as drive. If I ask to display the tree for U: (which is the D: of the other PC as a network-drive), I get always the tree of C: like you.
However, if I display U: in both panels, or in the inactive panel, I get alright the tree of U: ! Old feature (NC-like), you get in the active panel the tree of the drive set in the other (inactive) panel.
Both PCs under Win 98 SE
¤ In <wincmd.ini>, there is an entry :
but no more explanation…
- To display the tree of a network-drive, regardless of which drive is in the other panel, TC might read the <treeinfo.wc> of the real physical drive, which is known.
* Maybe the entry above does the trick ? We need infos from the Author.
- In anyway, whether the network-drive letter corresponds with a simple folder mounted as a drive letter, that shall never work, since there is no <treeinfo.wc> in that folder…
Kind regards,
Claude

Do you [Ctrl]+[F8]? TC always shows the tree of the opposite pane in the current one. so:robinsiebler wrote:I tried to do this for about 10 minutes. Any time I try to change the view for a pane to Tree View, it defaults to C:. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to display another drive.
Left pane is c:\ right pane is active and d:\. press [Ctrl]+[F8] you got still in the left c:\ and in the right the tree of c:\.
To get the tree of d:\ you have to activate first the left pane and then press [Ctrl]+[F8]. It's a bit confusing, but if you know how it works, it's still logical.

You have to change the drive on the side where the file list is, not where the tree is, otherwise TC will revert to file view.I was trying to get the tree for an attached USB drive. I couldn't do it, even though it is a physical drive.

Is it possible to have an option in the ini to change that behaviour. If I´m working in the right panel and just want to change the view to jump somewhere else, it´s more efficient if I don´t have to "match source" first.
Finally I´m working with one side and want to take the aktion from that one.

If you just want to jump somewhere else using a tree view, why don't you use Commands -> CD Tree or ALT-F10 - it opens a tree for the drive in the active panel in a separate window.
