language and languageini in wincmd.ini

Post by *karlchen »

Hello, Sheepdog.

Yes, this is strange!

TC help says:
Language= language-DLL (WCMD_DEU.DLL etc.)
But it does not mention a languageini parameter anywhere.

However, my wincmd.ini only holds the line
languageini=wcmd_deu.lng
There is no language parameter in my wincmd.ini.

Maybe the two parameters were changed between two TC versions? I mean maybe parameter "language" disappeared and was replaced by "languageini"?

I'm not especially bewildered. ;)

I'm working at a kind of help-file and it would be nice to know the exact difference between these two keys. Or that there isn't (what I assume).

Thanks anyway.

:) Hello Stefan !

• In my <wincmd.ini> I have only :

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
LanguageIni=WCMD_FRA.LNG
:?: In the English Help, there is *.DLL, that is wrong currently, since the language-files are *.lng !
- Either it's an error, or the very old W-T/C versions had *.DLL for the languages, and the simple "Language=… " entry in the file <wincmd.ini>

Okay I did some tests. It seems that you are right (both).
Removing the line 'language=' has no effekt to TC while removing/changing 'languageini=' is changing the actually loaded language file.
My wincmd.ini contains the 'language=' - entry because I used the TC-Help to build it. So I have all possible entrys and their description. It works fine as long the keys have an own line. The comments are simply ignored by TC.

Up from WC 3.01 there are the names of language files *.lng, while the very early WC 1.22d doesn't even contain a language file. So the *.dll in the help file is probably a typo.

Hope @ghisler could make a definite statement, or perhaps Hacker. ;)

• It should be important for me to correct the Help /Tutorials !

- For "blue" : right I guess.
- For "bold" : not sure… I heard something here about the first English version. I'ts possible that on this time a German.DLL and an English.DLL had existed (?) :roll:

There were files like: Wcmd_fra.dll until (at least) 2.11 version.
In 3.03 there were already files in today formats.

Go to ClubTotal. In Releases folder you will find many old versions.

:oops: You are right. I had downloaded them already but completely forgot about it. And while I have all my versions installed at one drive, I assumed that the 2.* versions are not available. :oops:

Thx for your advice

Yes, I switched from DLL to plain text format for two reasons:
1. 16-bit and 32-bit versions would have needed two different DLL files, but can share the same LNG file
2. It's easier for translators to handle a text file.
