Small directory rename bug

Post by *Thany »

Let's say we have a folder called C:\aaa. Now open this folder in total commander. Next, go ahead and rename that folder in the other pane in the same total commander instance to C:\AAA. Everything is ok.

Only on the pane where you had C:\aaa opened, everything keeps working but totalcmd keeps thinking the folder is named aaa instead of AAA. Of course, this is because Windows handles files case-insensetively, but still, such a rename could be detected, especially when the folder is renamed within the same totalcmd instance...

I do not see the disadvantage.

If you are not into the 'aaa' folder while renaming TC changes the name on both panels. If you change the name to 'bbb' the panel you are into 'aaa' is switching one dir up and shows the actual name 'bbb'.

If you create a folder 'aaa' and then try to create a folder 'aAa' it fails because it means the same to windows.

Why should TC distinguish names that are not distinguished of the OS?

I think the problem is just a cosmetical and - frankly said - should be added to the end of the wishlist if at all.
