Changing File Structure Between Syncs

Post by *Alonzo Mosley »

I have a backup copy of my Documents folder on an external drive.

I've made a lot of changes to my Documents folder:
  1. I added a bunch of files
  2. I deleted a bunch of files
  3. I moved a lot of files into different directories
Now I want a backup that:
  1. Adds the files from step (A).
  2. Does NOT delete the backed-up files I deleted in (B) (i.e., keeps an archive)
    and here's the tricky one
  3. Add the consolidated directories and the files within, and allow me to delete the obsolete directories/files
I get that I'd probably have to do (C) manually. But what's holding me back from just making a fresh copy of the original Docs folder is that tricky part of (B) - I want that archive. I think "Left to Right" sync helps me, but...

I suspect TC is not going to be my friend here.
Dan: You're gonna need to get someone to fix my computer.
Kim: What's wrong with it?
Dan: It's in several pieces on my floor.
