Standard editors hot keys ?
Usually, on the staggering majority of programs out there...
F1 help
F2 rename
F3 something.. search
F4 something
F5 refresh
F6 - F9 .. whatever
F10 exit
I can't get past my first bad impressions that I won't keep using TC because of the inability of reconfigure the hot keys...
I tried TC in the past (around 2005) but could never get comfortable to use it as Explorer replacement because the same reason: can't get myself from hitting F5 when I want it to refresh the view.
So, is there an improvement in the hot keys configuration ?
I still think TC is an awesome replacement for Explorer but without a decent hotkeys setup it's not gonna happen for me again.
Thanks

Re: Standard editors hot keys ?
Where is the problem? Feel free to redefine the hotkeys to your need:
Configuration - Options - Misc : Redefine hotkeys
Configuration - Options - Misc : Redefine hotkeys

All those hotkeys you mention can be redefined via "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Misc." -> "Redefine hotkeys (keyboard remapping)"
To change for example F2 to Rename - remap F2 to the command cm_RenameSingleFile
To change for example F3 to Search - remap F3 to the command cm_SearchFor
To change for example F3 to Search (QuickSearch in panel) - remap F3 to the command cm_ShowQuickSearch
To change for example F5 to Refresh - remap F5 to the command cm_RereadSource
To change for example F10 to Exit - remap F10 to the command cm_Exit
To make it easy for you - you can just place this in your wincmd.ini file and restart TC:
Make sure you don't already have a [Shortcuts] section.

This has been possible since Windows Commander 4.03 from 1999...I tried TC in the past (around 2005)

alexdelara,
To add to what sqa_wizard said, the hotkeys have been customizable since at least the end of 1999, version 4.03.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Re: Standard editors hot keys ?
Alexdara: You probably know that you can either paste Petermad's shortcut code above into Wincmd.ini, or you can use the menu: Configuration; Options; Misc.; Redefine hotkeys (Keyboard remapping)
Also let me add that "F2=cm_RenameSingleFile" will give you the behavior you expect, but "F2=cm_RenameFile" will not. Hope this helps.

That's the sound Hacker heard coming from your tricycle when you quickly dropped your reply and disappeared again in a blazing rush.
