view system tray apps in total commander
Hi, as the title says is there a way to see the system tray apps in total commander, just like you see them in windows taskbar?
Thank you
Thank you

Hi and welcome, Hadrian.
That is not possible.
The taskbar is one part of your OS, TC is an different thing, an application.
Why should TC show the taskbar too? Do you want to save space?

To my knowledge the system tray application cannot be listed as a folder/virtual folder. (even on explorer)
That means that you will have to uses a dedicated wfx addon. (extracting from the HKCU:\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify registry key)
If you want you can also use an external tool like anvir process manager and search for systray icon.

The icons in the tray are not some static link files on disk, they are requested by apps via specific Windows functions. A program can show more than one such icon. It's not possible to request a list of these icons programmatically.

Yes, I wanted to use total commander exclusively and have nothing else on my desktop, but alas is not a big deal. Thank you for the answer.Stefan2 wrote: 2021-01-07, 07:13 UTC Hi and welcome, Hadrian.

PowerPro can list and manage tray icons

Re: view system tray apps in total commander
Do you know the windows taskbar has an option to auto-hide the taskbar and only show it on hovering over it?
(see the taskbar settings)
Re: view system tray apps in total commander
@Vochomurka : Unfortunately with windows 64bit, tray plugin only works when ppro is launched as administrator --> other issues.
@Hadrian from old ages of windows 7 32bit it was easy to completely replace explorer. Unfortunately with windows 10, 32/64bi mix and new MsStore application it is almost impossible to have very light desktop using TC only and keep all W10 functionality.Hadrian wrote: 2021-01-08, 01:31 UTC Yes, I wanted to use total commander exclusively and have nothing else on my desktop

I see, it is what it is, I can live with it, but you know how it is, always trying to optimize.nsp wrote: 2021-01-08, 07:50 UTC@Vochomurka : Unfortunately with windows 64bit, tray plugin only works when ppro is launched as administrator --> other issues.
