Option to Show Long Filenames in Full
I have some files with very long names that do not show fully until I hover on them with the mouse then the file names show in Tooltips.
Is there a way that I can see full file names for items at the cursor either in a tooltip, the status line on the bottom, or somewhere else without having to hover on them using the mouse?

What means "very long"?
Why can't you see them? What do you see?
Try menu "Show > Vertical Arrangement"
or resize the panels temporarily to make one pane wider,
or just move the Size column more to the right.
Or create a custom column and enable Horizontal scrollbar

By very long I mean they don't fit fully under the Name column. Some file names I have can be 90 characters long just for the name, not full path, and they are truncated with two dots at the end.
for example

Ah, I guess just the Size column is in the way for him.
Try moving the Size column more to the right.
|Name ...............................................................|.....Ext.....|.....Size....|.....Date......|.

And..., 90 chars isn't "very long"

Thank you both for your responses. Vertical arrangement works but I'm not used to running TC that way and I just have to get used to it for the time I'm working with folders with long names.
I have a second Portrait monitor I usually keep TC running on. There is not a lot of horizontal room for file names!
Thanks again.

Re: Option to Show Long Filenames in Full
The best way to resolve this problem is show super-long filenames in 2 or more lines. Can TC do that?

If the file name exceeds 300 characters, this method is almost useless.tuska wrote: 2017-07-13, 17:57 UTC Why do you not follow Stefan2's advice?
Try menu "Show" > "Vertical Arrangement" or make a button with command: cm_VerticalPanels.
Then you can see a filename unlimited up to 199 characters, at least on a 24 inch monitor with maximized TC.
(I've even scaled the display to 125% of the normal size).

But you may check:
"Configuration -> Options... -> Dislpay: [x] Show filename in file list as tooltip if truncated"
Anyway: "The best way to resolve this problem" .. is to use shorter filenames.
- better readability
- less problems with programs which do not support the optional long path support in W10

Re: Option to Show Long Filenames in Full
You could make a button or a keyboard shortcut to the command cm_ShowHint - it will show the tooltip of the file under the cursor

Re: Option to Show Long Filenames in Full
If you use the Win32-style tooltips instead of just the name tip, then long tips will be broken into multiple lines at word boundaries.

OK. It's an exaggeration that a 300-characters filename. but I do have a lot of filenames exceeding 140 characters.HolgerK wrote: 2021-02-13, 16:13 UTCNo.linkun wrote: 2021-02-13, 12:45 UTC The best way to resolve this problem is show super-long filenames in 2 or more lines. Can TC do that?

Re: Option to Show Long Filenames in Full
OK. Put these files in a 119-character long path and you may have problems trying to view or edit one of these files with a program which is not long path aware.

Re: Option to Show Long Filenames in Full
Put all these files in a folder with a name like "1610 Washington Street - IT-000 Diagram " because this text repeats itself in all file names. And strip that text from the "long" file names.
