Dir deletion leaves dir name existent, must reboot (W2K)

Post by *acrolle »

Sorry for this generic problem report.
TC version 6.03a. deleting dirs while working with ftp or cdrom
(read only flags ??) causes dir name not to be canceled.

Clicking on it (dir name) with any tool causes only messages "Cannot delete dir" or similar warnings.

This happened at least 4 times (reboot necessary).
After reboot the dir name is definitely missing (confirmation of previuos session deletion).

I do not know if this is a TC problem or W2K problem.

Hope this helps. Regards.

It happened to me 2 or 3 times exactly the same within this week.
It's strange, I've been using TC 6.03a since it's released, but this happend only in this week.
My system is win2k too.

Hi there...

This has happened to me several times. I'm not 100% certain but i believe the following happens: when you try to delete the directory, it is locked by some process (application, Windows or even TC) and windows cannot delete it, so they decide to mark it and try to delete it later. Maybe later means after 1/10/100 minutes, i don't know but if you close and reopen TC (or the application that may be using that dir), you may see that after some time the dir has been deleted. In any case, a simple logout-login should make the dir dissapear (no restart needed). :)

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.
