7Zip Plugin Continued ...

You can find the new 7zip plugin that uses 7-zip version 16.04 source code from:

Current status should be useable and almost the same as 0.7.6.5 and the compress options are different from 9.2x, but I just use the same as old version, may be this cause plugin hang during compress files when set the compress mode to LZMA2 and using thread more then 3.
Before 0.7.6.5, the LZMA2 only allow max 2 threads, and in this alpha test, also allow max 2 threads, but in 7-zip 16.04, it can allow max 32 threads for LZMA2. Because I always use LZMA2/Ultra for my daily backup process, if it can use more threads it will speed up the backup jobs. I will still try on this issue. For current alpha test, also only allow max 2 threads for LZMA2.

The Delta Filter is added, so it can decompress the sample file that gora provided. And because the compress options are different, maybe there are still bugs hiding some where, so test only, not for your important data backup.

Do you really using all of the compress method? 7-zip already remove Deflate/Deflate64 from the 7z compression, should I remove them?

It's a post of long time ago. But at new times maybe its interesting to implement the ability to use more processor treads.
I've tested to change the '7zip.ini' file and changed the setting 'NumThreads='. This works and decreases the compressing time very much. Only the progress bar does not work. And the setting is put back to 2 after opening the configuration screen.
I've also updated to 7Zip.21.00.sfx (It's an alfa, I know, but works fine. )

Is it an option to recompile to a new version with more threats options in the configuration screen? Or an open fill in field?
(@Ghisler: You have recompiled this plugin before, maybe you can update this with this small update?)

There has been an version 0.8.0 alfa? Is there any progress in this? Or for ever on hold?

Why don't you use the Total7zip plugin ?
For this plugin I can set the the Number of CPU threads without problems.
The settings I make in the Configure button of the TC pack files dialog stay persistent.
And of course I can always use the files of actual 7zip version.

On the plugin site of totalcmd in the discription the Total7zip Team has written:
This plugin can create, update and delete files from 7z. Supports sfx and encryption. Can read many other formats besides 7z: XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP, WIM ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, DMG ...
Uses 7z.dll, supports Unicode file names, can open files by content, search text in archives.
Use the standalone 7zip plugin above in 64-bit.

And
'Total7zip' last updated: 20.11.2012
'7zip' last updated: 13.12.2016

That suggests to me that 7zip development is newer than Total7zip.

Edit: I've installed Total7zip and copyed the files from 7zip v21.00 to the plugin dir and works good.
(7zip and Total7zip has almost the same interface. Forks of each other?)

Total7zip is by far superior to the 7zip plug-in.
The release date of both plug-ins is not telling the whole story.

The 7zip plug-in carries the 7-zip codebase (or relevant parts thereof) within it, the 7z routines are compiled into the plug-in. That means, whenever a new version of the 7-zip packer utility with new features for the 7z archive format (or other archive formats) is released, the 7zip plug-in needs to be rebuilt by the plug-in author using the new 7-zip codebase. It will become a problem if the plug-in author is not doing that (for whatever reasons). Your question about lacking updates of the 7zip plug-in is testament to this.

The Total7zip plug-in follows a different approach. It does NOT include 7-zip code. Rather, it just makes use of the 7-zip utility itself (certain exe's and dll's from the official 7-zip utility). Contrary to the 7zip plug-in, the Total7zip plug-in itself does not need to be updated when a new 7-zip version is being released, as long as neither the commandline interface of those exe's nor the APIs exported by those DLLs change -- and it will just happily work with the new(er) 7-zip version...

It's a known bug with certain zone identifiers after a download. Please remove the zone identifier first:
Alt+Enter on the file, then check "Allow" near the bottom and click OK.

Total7zip is monstrous. I only need to work with 7zip. The rest of the work with archivers suits me as done in TC itself.

I offer a quick solution to compile the original and old (from 2016) source code wcx_7zip_0.7.6.6.src.7z under VS2010 to the present VS2019:

1)Change the original PlatformToolset = Windows7.1 to the new one PlatformToolset = Visual Studio 2019 (v142) (in my case or something similar in your case). [7zwcx->Properties->General->Platform Toolset]
2)Insert the line "#include <string>" before the line "#include <stdio.h>" (line 27) in the "7zip.h" file

These steps prevent at least 20 errors and help you to compile successfully.

Note: At this time you can compile only the old and original code (from 2016) of 7zip.org, inserted by default in the plugin. If I have some time I will replaced it with the new one (7z2107-src.7z from present).
