How to watch mp4 videos with lister in TC10?

In TC10 the lister plugin is capable of opening different video and audio formats. If I understand it correctly I would press F3 on a video file and it is shown in the lister display. But I only see the hex (binaries) version of those files. I installed the LAV filters in the folder "filter32" and registered them. I tried it on 2 different PCs. What else do I need to see a video with lister? What am I missing?

The best tool to check what's wrong would be graph studio next. You can find it here:
https://github.com/cplussharp/graph-studio-next/releases

Since you use the 32-bit version of Total Commander, you need to use 32-bit graph studio next to see what filters are installed.
Just run the tool, then drag the mp4 file to it.

I see one box with the name of the video and it´s mentioned "output" on it. That´s it. I´m not familiar with these Github things. If anyone please give me an advice for noobs (step by step) I would be happy.

That doesn´t change the display, it already was on the multimedia option.

Now this is confusing. As I mentioned the multimedia option (4.) was checked. But only if you click it again or press "4" as Hacker wrote it will play the video. So thanks for helping me!

I see, thanks for the info. Is there a way to have the mp4 videos played immediately after pressing F3? On one PC F3 starts the "ampview" plugin and on the other PC it starts with the binaries. Can I configure somewhere that mp4 starts directly without having to cycle through with "4"?

In the lister window have a look into Options/Configure/Multmedia. There you should find a setting for your task, I think. I still have TC 9 installed here, so I cannot tell exactly what you see there in TC 10. Just have a look.

Unfortunately I didn´t find an option in Options/Configure/Multmedia that would prioritize the new lister for opening mp4. I have several plugins (e.g. for xls, pdf...) and they always open correctly when pressing F3. Is there a user of the new TC10 who has an mp4 opened directly (using F3 or quick view mode)?

Update: When I remove the plugins AmpView and TxQuickView then Lister shows video files immediately. Since the new Lister plays various audio and video formats I won´t need the other two. That solves everything for me. Thanks to all for commenting and helping.

Use "Define view method by file type", if you want to keep more than one method for multimedia. It's described in help and in other topics…

To prioritize the plugins (set the order for opening a file) you just change the order of a plugin at the list at "Options/Configure/Multmedia" pressing the "LS-Plugin" button.
Select your preferred plugin and click on the up/down on bottom left corner to change the order by shifting the entry.

That order list didn´t work in that case. AmpView was number 12 and it opened before Lister. This list looks for 3rd party plugins and therefore ignores the internal Lister itself in my case. For me if I want to use the new Lister version I needed a change in my setup but it´s working now.
