I can confirm that your text.webp cannot be opened by Imagine.

If I open it in Irfanview and save it with any compression, I can open it in Imagine afterwards, but if I save it with "Lossless compression" in Irfanview. then I still cannot open it in Imagine.

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought it's the file... I'd try Photoviewer, but totalcmd.net is down at the moment. So for now I will take Irfanview again

I can open it with TC's PhotoViewer plugin under Windows 10, but not under Windows 7, 8.1 and XP.

Same thing with Windows Photo Viewer - it can show the file under Windows 10 but not Windows 7 amd 8.1.

I have replaced Imagine with the Photoviewer plugin since a long time.

Just personal preference or is it better for some specific reason?

it shows almost anything I want and I like the button layout in its GUI more than Imagine.

according the time-stamp on you page, this PhotoViewer plugin had released its beta version since 2018, and I never heard of it before you mentioned it in the other webp animation image thread. I ignore it for so long. I think it because of prejudice on the GUI...

and they are working fine.

It's said "Animation not supported", which is a great draw-back to me. And imagine work fine for most formats back then and support animation too, I never bother to try it...
Now I still think it's should be a much better plugin if can run the animation, but it will automatic load a low dimension in lister for large-scale image really helpful in lister usage... I put it on the first place for the lister image plugin list now.

It does not preview any of the webp files as an image, just raw text - files were created with XNConvert (XNView can also save webp).

you need to install the imagine webp plugin in order to display web format... but the animation webp is not supported

As of January 19th, 2022, the webp plugin supports - as described above - the compressions VP8L and VP8X (lossless, animation, ...) in addition to VP8.

In the meantime - on January 25th, 2022 - the WebP plugin was released in version v0.1.1 and can now also handle imagine's antialiasing option.
