This is because hot keys are generally trapped for the whole application, regadless of where the cursor is. Try to define another hotkey, like Ctrl+Shift+C.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

What did you expect?
I tried to configure the same. When I try to type 'cd xyz' the 'c' does copy the full name to clip. But that fore it is not typed into commandline. so in the commandline is typed 'd xyz'. If you want to type 'cd xyz' without copying the path you have to press [shift]+[left] before. Because then you are in commandline and not in the pane to copy a path.

If you would like to copy the path while typing the 'c' into commandline - this is not possible.

But your proposal is very good, I think. To use a char as hotkey without meta-key will cause inexpected and hard to find troubles.
I could find out the behavior, because noss still did know about the hotkey. But if you use a rarer used key like 'x' or 'q' and the problem occurs a few days after defining the hotkey - and you forgot about it. Noone would expect a single key as shortcut.

I'm using TC 6.03 (not 6.03a).
It's comfortable for me to use one char for a command, because i use frequently that command. I think so, some commands (examle: copy full path (with filename) to clipboard) have signification only in file panels.
Thx for remarks, and sorry for my weak english..
