Folder Thumbnail layout - How can I change it?

Can I change the thumbnail icon/layout for folders?

Now it looks like this:

The point is to make it easier to find photos and show folders like this:

I could only change the resolution in Total commander, but not the layout.

No, this is a thumbnail loaded via OLE2 from the Explorer, so it looks the same as in the Explorer.

Oh, it really is the same. So I just have to find a way to change Explorers thumnail?
