Bug w/ TC 6 and Irfanview?
I have TC 6 and Irfanview 3.85 (I also tried 3.80). When I try to View or Quick View certain images, they show up in binary view instead of in image view. If I open the images with Irfanview, they open normally.

I have that option checked. It doesn't make any difference. Also, this is only happening for certain images. Below is the URL for an example.

I just noticed that if I repeatedly press F3 and escape on the same image, sometimes it will load as an image and sometimes it won't. I never had this problem with earlier versions of TC.

I Wanted to create a new topic but I found this old one ...
->I have the same problem :
Irfanview 3.92
TC 6.03a
File : DDS (Direct Draw Surface)
Irfanview or Xnview load them
I can view them with alt+F3 (that's launch the external app)
When I try a quick view mode -That is what I want- (or the lister with F3) I only have the binary...
I mailed irfanview author, his answer :
Here is a small DDS File

I've never heard about such a list....You have to ask TC author about that, probably is DDS not in the graphic list => IrfanView is not started/used for DDS.
Here is a small DDS File

Internal list ?

Hello Franck!
- Confirmed, that doesn't work for F3 or Ctrl+Q
- The list might be an internal list embedded in the EXE or so; there is no file as is in TC, indeed.
Best regards

In TC, there is a hardcoded list of extensions which IrfanView supports. This list is chceked when a file is opened in Lister so TC knows which file to open using IrfanView and which not. Unfortunately, the hardcoded solution is really not flexible and the list is outdated.

In a real file---

Hi Roman !
- It's that I thougt and said above; BTW, you'ld prefer a real file *.INI or so, updatable even by hand ? I would prefer that also...
- It should need sections, 'cause i.e. XnView/Uniview can be used too, and support more formats than irfanView…
- Another way could be to read the supported formats in these programs.
-In XnView, there is a file <Formats.txt>
-What do you think ?

I'd prefer a GUI solution (like Use IrfanView to show these files with these extensions: [editable combobox]; similar for xnview/uniview). But personally I don't care (however as a betatester I do), as I don't use any of these within Lister.

Actually about a year ago Christian "promised" to add the feature Val suggested about year and a half ago - some INI parameter for supported by IView extensions. Hello!
I got new version of TC 6.50 today. And found a lot of wonderful features. Thumbnails view was one of them (one the most important). But .dds files are still "out of order". I failed to view them with IrfanView (configured as Lister extension). I even tried to set "Get from Irfan-/Xnview for" in Thumbnails configuration, but result was the same.
Maybe Christian can add ONE '.dds' extension at least (before great .ini file solution)...
