:) Hello !
• I can't confirm this. I can switch to any other APP in the task-bar, from its "medium-size" window on the Desktop, or switching by Alt+Tab; that stays on top in all cases.
- Xp-Pro - French - No SP - DD-RAM : 1 GB - 2-CPU 1.65 GHz AMD™ 2000+MP - TC 6.03a

 Kind regards,
Claude

I think you stumbled upon a known XP bug. When you use an application like IrfanView or similar in full screen mode, and close it, the Z order is kept in windows regardless of the keyboard focus. Remedy: simply start another application (notepad), press Alt-Tab twice and close it if not needed.
It that was your problem, please confirm, otherwise we have to think more ;-)

I have a similar problem. Over the last couple of weeks or so, whenever I have more than application open (this doesn't happen everytime, it is seemingly random, but TC is always one of the applications), I sometimes cannot maximize an application from the taskbar. I can click on the icon in the taskbar, but the application will not display - instead, the application that was previously active/maximized is the one that displays. To open any of the taskbar applications when this happens, I have to minimize all applications to the taskbar, and then I can open the application (over the top of my blank desktop). This is highly annoying. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I run ATI's Catalyst v4.9 drivers if that is of any help.

I have an ATI based video card, and I was using the Cat 4.9's, so I've dropped back to the 4.8's (as I couldn't recall having the problem under those). Since then, the problem hasn't occured. It has only been a couple of days or so since I did it, but I will continue to monitor it and report back here if it is the problem or not.
