PDF files have no icons (in File Explorer do)
I guess TC take icons from different location. After last Acrobar Reader update (21.7.20099.454979) seems there were some changes to registry.

Please run my registry info tool from here:
https://www.totalcommander.ch/win/tools/registryinfo.zip
Enter the file extension which doesn't have an icon (in your case, pdf ).
Then please paste the results here in the forum.

Hi! I have the same problem. Ran the RegistryInfo tool, but couldn't paste the results - error message "Your message contains the following unsupported characters: " Attaching image file URL instead https://sites.google.com/view/pdficonissues/home

Unfortunately the image was cut on the left, so I cannot read all the paths. But it looks like the DefaultIcon value points to a strange path not in the file system.
Could you copy and paste just the value below the DefaultIcon entry in the last section (below the last ============ line)?
It ends with MicrosoftEdgePDF.png

I do not understand what your problem is. Perhaps you could not set a normal association, or your OS was just killed.

Re: PDF files have no icons (in File Explorer do)
Here is the icon TC should be using:
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{AC76BA86-1033-1033-7760-BC15014EA700}\_PDFFile.ico
Can you go to C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{AC76BA86-1033-1033-7760-BC15014EA700}
and check whether the file _PDFFile.ico exists or not?

Icon is there and also appears in TC. Likely some consequent update of Acrobat Reader fixed that.
