FTP limit on the number of files in a directory

Post by *KanYabumoto »

It seems that Total Commander sets a limit of 2000 files per directory
when a web server (Linux) is accessed via Total Commander FTP.
We just discovered this hard way (that any attempt to copy more files will just fail).
Is there a way to set a higher limit?
If not, what's the best alternative?

TIA

:) Hello ! Welcome on board!

- I've not such big remote directories among my FTP-connections.
- This is an interesting subject, clearly expressed. :D
- Please, could you give any FTP public-site address, in order to make a test ? Thanks !

 Kind regards,
Claude

Hello,

I cannot confirm this problem. I up- and downloaded 2500 files from/to a ftp/web server directory. Could you please tell us the name of the FTP server. Please post the log file file that is created during ftp connect (doubleclick on the connection field will open a lister window).

Please, search the forum for "2000 FTP", then check topic "Files in directory truncated to 2000. TotalCommand or ISP ?" from wheeloftime.

(sorry, but I do not know how to insert a link to it).
