Uppercase for Drivebuttons

Post by *CKYHC »

Hello Christian Ghisler,

the theme with uppercase was already discussed, but mostly in the term of copy operation. What I need - is only possibility to decide, if the drive-characters in the drive-buttons will be displayed in lowercase (currently it is so) or in uppercase (that's what I like to have).
Actually it's enough for me if that can be configured within ini-file (so it's not necessary to add corresponding option to the configuration dialogs).

The main reason why I need this feature - to avoid mistakes by selecting drives with letters I, J and L, which are displayed almost similar in lowercase.
I don't need such changes for drive- combo-box or copy operation dialog. I need it only for displayed letters in drive-buttons.
The used System is Windows. It is fully Ok if You leave the lowecase as default setting, so if the user likes to get uppercase - he knows what he'll get and what it's about.

Thanking you in anticipation,
Andrey

I tried this once, but the letters were just too large (especially the M and W) for the buttons, and making the buttons larger would need more space...

Just as a point of reference, on my 1920x1200 monitor, I have both drive bars displayed with 18 drives in each. Plenty of room left over for upper cased drive letters.

Also as a reference point, my laptop is still only 1024x768, but its drive bars only show 4 drives, so there is plenty of room for upper-cased drive letters there too!

At the very least, this should be an INI option for those of us with modern/wide hi-resolution displays.

:) Hello John !

I support ! I always prefered uppercase drive letters, so at the very outside, an option could do the trick…

Apologies for dragging this old chestnut up again but my eyes are failing so fast I need UpperCase Drive buttons too. Always confusing i & l, m & n. When I & L, M & N is so much clearer. An INI option to choose, UPPER or lower would be fine.

Notice that there is also this setting:
Help wrote:DrivesExportUpcase=-1 1: Export drive letters uppercase when using e.g. cm_CopyFullNamesToClip, or when running programs (in program name and current directory). <=0: Export as lowercase.
Note: When DrivesShowUpcase is set and DrivesExportUpcase isn't, it gets the value of the former
