Hello,
Some users wrote that list refresh is very slow, so I added
options in .ini for this: "ShowNames", "ShowVersions".
If set to 0, VersionInfo structure will be not used (but Version column will be empty).
Thanks for this upgrade, but please, for next version is it possible to add the possibility to change the new option "Show version" in the option dialog box as for the "Show plugins type"... it would be great and the editing of the ini file would be useless.
Friendly

2Vansumsen:
Option ShowNames/ShowVersions useful only if list refresh slow for you,
by default VersionInfo is used and it's not slow..
In this forum I didn't see messages about this..

and maybe, option for reading descript.ion:
ShowNames=3: get plugin names from descript.ion
ShowNames=4: get plugin names from Files.bbs
-do you need it?
and maybe, option for reading descript.ion:
ShowNames=3: get plugin names from descript.ion
ShowNames=4: get plugin names from Files.bbs…
The issue is that we have not original <descript.ion> files in each plugin sub-dir - supposing that the user organizes the plugins as is -.
- So, each one can create such files, but how to find them then?
- About <files.bbs>, I never see one yet anywhere…
- I don't guess it's indispensable, only my 0.05 € (inflation…)

Read out of "descript.ion" and "files.bbs" is meant for installation purposes. One or even both of these files can be found in many .zip-format distributions. "Files.bbs" is the older format which originated back in the messageboard days when internet was in its children shoes (i.e. in the early beginnings).
"Descript.ion" is far more powerfull as it can contain a description for every file residing in the same directory. This format was invented by the authors off the 4dos/4nt programms, a great command/cmd32.com replacement. Btw., distribution of 4dos is freeware now.

To save current column settings permanently you have to drag every column border a little with the mouse once. To resize the main window drag the window border/corner. Doubleclicking the titlebar or the maximize button is disabled. It escapes me why it is handled this way but with this workaround it should be fine as you normaly reconfigure these settings rather seldom.
2deus-ex Hello Dirk !
¤ I know very well what are the description files (I wrote the Tutorials…)
* I checked a lot of plugin-archives at home, not any description in sight … Under Win 98 SE.
* Currently, TC Plugman doesn't install the plugins from the archives directly, that could be a next step

Wtf! You did that for JPSoftware or what?
If so let your connections play and organize me a fan coffecup (4dos Logo) please.

Once i had a big shareware CD collection named "Nightowl" which was one of my main access channels to current software back then. Most archives on these CD's (mainly .zip) included a "files.bbs" which then got replaced by "file_id.diz" later on. In additon some archives came along with the then new "descript.ion" files. But who am i trying to tell you something new, eh?

That's how i understood it, too. Alexey asks for our opinion if he should add this to "TC PlugMan". Well, why not. Before he gets bored...
