You can force TC to use your custom Icon library by setting in wincmd.ini:

[configuration]
iconlib= %path_to your_Lib%\%Name_of_Your_Icon_Library%

You can download a repalcement icon library here .
With the ICL_read.wcx packer plugin you can browse into this library and modify it.

It is for all versions of TC that support plugins - I guess.

Which instructions you exectly want to be updated?.

Don't you know how to install a plugin?
Or don't you know how to replace the icon?

Okay, a little bit basics:

You don't need a particular plugin-folder, but it makes sense to create one in your TC-Folder. So you have a better overview about the plugins that are installed. If you use many plugins it's handy to separate the plugins foleder at least int three protions: Lister-plugins; Packer-plugins; Filesystem-Plugins.

Listerplugins are used with the internal lister to view files that TC does not support e.g. jpeg-pictures, Html-files, video-files. So if you have installed the appropriate plugin you can select a file in the pane and press [F3] and the lister displays the video, plays the mp3 or whatever. YOu could use this feature in quick-view mode too by pressing [Ctrl]+[q]. Then there will not be opened a separate window, but the opposite panel will be used for it.

Packerplugins enable you to access archives like they are folders. So you could simply press enter on a *.zip file and you can browse inside the archive. With IclRead.wcx you can point the cursor to the *.icl (Iconlibrary), press [enter] and see all of the icons inside. YOu can copy them or view them with (Lister [F3]) .

Filesystem -Plugins allow you access to many features as were they shares on your network. So if installed they appear in the network neighborhood (of TC). E.g. there is a registry plugin (actually there are 3 of them :lol: ) you find in the Net-Neighbourhood and if you enter it you see the Registry like it were a foldertree. And so you could browse through it and look at or change values and keys without opening regedit.

How to install a ICLread packer plugin:
Configuration->Options->Packer: 'Configure packer extension dlls':

All files with extension (ending with): here insert 'icl'
then press 'new type'.
Browse to the folder where ICLread.wcx is located and select it.
Press [enter].
Restart TC.

Thats it.

Now you can replace the standard 'packed files' icon. It is the one named '0008.ico'.

After making a backup open the Iconlibrary defiend in wincmd.ini by pressing [enter] on it. Create a new folder in the opposite panel and copy all icons into that folder. Replace the 0008.ico by that one you would lke to use. Replace any other Icon you would like.
Delete all icons- without the first - from the opened iconlibrary. You could not delete all. Copy the altered icons into the Iconlibrary (of course without the first one). Get out of the icon library and restart TC. Your icon(s) should be used now.
If you would like to change the first icon, you have to delete all icons but the first. Then add the new first icon (it is now the second one) and delete the first. Now the new icon apears to be the first. Now you can copy icon 2-23 to the library.
You cannot change the icons by simply overwrite, because ICLRead adds the icons you copy into a library. But TC (or any other App.) acesses the icons by hteir position in the file and not by name.

Hope you will be able now to use your winrar icon.
