If i may ask mr. Ghisler i want to buy the license key for the TC, sou i have searched the web for a seller from my coutry (im form SLOVAKIA) a nd found one you have alsou the support for him www.avir.sk.

I called him and asked for the price and so on, thats not important but this is....
I asked him how he will deliver the program to me via CD, FDD ???, he sad e-mail, he will send me a license key, and i should d/l the Shareware version and than copy the key into that folder and that's it ????????

So i'm asking if this is right, where i have the paper or something that i legaly own the TC, something like Windows or other programs.
I'm just asking if it's right i have a bat feeling about this and 1300,- Sk im our country is a lot of money and i'm gonna spend it for that purpous that i want to.

PLZ........confirm or deny this, thanx a lot for you're support.

That's true...

When I ordered TC, I receive first an email with the licence key...then I received a FDD with install software, the license key and the licence "paper" ....

Yes that's ok but he said nothing abou the license "paper" just the licence key and this was all.

You actually receive three "papers". Your Personal Licence, an Invoice/Receipt and a Quick Reference. None of the above papers are necessary to licence your software and in the instructions given, there is no reference of the need to keep them. It is advisable to keep them in case you delete your key file and the related email, in order to aid Christian helping you, but I'm sure you won't face any legal prosecutions if you just burn those papers down to ashes.

The electronic part of the licensing is important and not the "material" one. Well actually the moral one is the most important but that's another story!

Ok but i would be much happier if Mr. Ghisler could declare this.

And this is the last, my reseller said that the license key works on all other, future versions, or is the upgrade for free or it will be payed..

As soon as you are registered, (until further notice) all updates are free, provided that you get the latest version yourself, by downloading it. Just install the new (Shareware) version over the old one. The only important thing is to keep the file wincmd.key.

The only thing i received when ordering wincmdr was the key via email. No papers or disks or anything.

I bought my licence from the danish reseller.

Ok i think that's enough i think, but i still have a strange feling with this.
So just hypothetycly i or someone else could make his own key ???
Not i gonna make this but where i have the guarantie i have it official.......

OK im not gonna analyse this further i just buy the license and that's it.

Total Commander is NO Freeware.

Shareware-version

You have the right to test this program for a period of one month. You are allowed to copy this Shareware-version (and ONLY the Shareware version) and give it to any other person, as long as it is not modified in any way. Under modifications is understood the changing, adding or removing of any files of this package without the author's written permission. You are NOT allowed to pack this program together with a commercial program or a book. Shareware dealers are allowed to sell the Shareware version for a small fee (around CHF/US$ 10.-). It must be clear to the buyer that he isn't receiving the full version! You are encouraged to put this program on as many BBS systems as possible. The distribution on CD-ROM is also permitted, as long as the original files are not changed in any way. Please contact me if you want to distribute the program with a different installation program, changed files etc.

Use of this software after the trial period of one month is in violation of international Copyright law! It is also unfair to the author, who has spent hundreds of hours developing this program.

Registration

This program is neither freeware nor public domain. Use after the 30 day trial period requires registration. The registration fee is only CHF 40.- incl. S&H ($ 32.- US personal cheque or cash including handling fees) for a personal licence, or CHF 30.- for a student licence (with fotocopy of student identity card). The student licence can only be registered to the full name of the student. See How to register for details on registration and support.

There are cracks for TC. But I have never heard about a (working) license key file that was createdby someone else than @ghisler.

There are official resellers in some countries, there is one in Slovakia… Maybe he dispatches the true keys made @Ghisler's for his customers - that should be logical-. From the Help / Tutorial - 2/a / Ordering :
