Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Windows 11 (22H2 255188.100) (but also older, with or without INSIDER mode)+ Total Commander 10.50 (but also older):
Sometimes the right mouse button does not work
Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Win11 Pro 21H2 with TC 10.50 here.
Can not reproduce, favorites show as expected when pressing Ctrl+D.
Note that you need to press and hold the RMB in order to open the context menu.

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Thank you. Unfortunately, neither Ctrl+D nor the menu item works. The problem started to appear after installing Win11 as an upgrade from Win10.
It has not been working for a long time, TC 9, 10.50, currently 10.51 RC3
Maybe it's a bug in the Windows or NET or other module itself.
Sometimes even clicking the left mouse button doesn't work on desktop.
Do you know which module I should reinstall?
Doesn't Total Commander have an error log?
I don't want to reinstall all of Winsows again.

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Reinstalled Dot.Net 1.1, so far it has helped, I don't know for how long

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Yes. Ctrl+D is not showing again
New reinstallation of DotNet 1.1 did not help.
Sometimes it starts working after a reboot, but only for a while.

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Probably a bug in the Windows settings.
In the meantime, a "big update" of Windows has been done, basically a new install, but the problem persists. When reinstalling, the settings remain the same, so if the error is here, there's no choice but to wipe the C: drive.

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Hold your horses. Don't reinstall Windows just yet.
Have you tried a fresh TC install to a different folder? Just to make sure that it's not a TC plugin or a specific setting in your settings that causes this problem..

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Try to start TC with a fresh wincmd.ini:
Code: Select all
totalcmd.exe /i="%TEMP%\fresh.ini"

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Ctrl+D is a completely internal function, reinstalling Windows will not help in any case!
If neither Ctrl+D work nor the click on the "*" button, then the directory hotlist may be damaged.
In this case please choose menu Commands - Save settings, then send me the section
[DirMenu]

Christian,
Roman
The History if the Hotlist fails? Not [DirMenu]?send me either the section
[LeftHistory]
if Ctrl+D fails in the left window, or
[RightHistory]
if Ctrl+D fails in the right window.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Sorry, it should be [DirMenu], the others are for the history. Post updated.

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Fresh ini - OK!!!
It didn't work in both the right and left windows.
If the fault recurs, I will send the required parameters.

Re: Cannot show favorites (Ctrl+D)
Probably the problem is really in wincmd.ini
If I restore this file to a version where the "favorites" still worked (or recreate it), everything ok.
But after a while it will go wrong again
The bad wincmd.ini is here: https://www.stanovsky.eu/wincmd.ini
