Cannot delete folder, file in use
Hi!
When I deleted a couple of XP service pack uninstall foldes with $NtUninstallKB833407$ names I got a couple of "file in use" message.
But I could delete these files with Explorer.
Have TC any problem deleted compressed folders ?

No, TC is the only one.SanskritFritz wrote:No there is no such problem in TC. You might have had the directory still open in the another panel in TC or somewhere else.

1. If you can't delete a folder make sure it's not opened in the other panel like SanskritFritz has already told you.
2. If that doesn't help restart TC.
3. If that doesn't help, too, kill and restart explorer.exe with the task manager (you will lose some icons in Systray probably if you aren't running a Systray recover utility) or relogin.
4. If that STILL doesn't help you have to restart your computer to release the file in use.

This problem happens all the time. It seems to me to be related to whether a folder to be deleted has empty subfolders (though I cannot prove this) and happens most frequently when I use TC to delete shared folders on other computers in my peer-to-peer network.
My environment is entirely XP SP1.
After TC deletes the subtree, it tries to delete the parent folder and encounters a sharing violation. A little utility I have called "WhoLockMe" always shows that TC itself owns the folder it cannot delete. Cancelling TC frees the folder for subsequent deletion.
This has happened enough times that I am reasonably sure it is a TC problem. I cannot reproduce the error at will, however.

Re: Cannot delete folder, file in use
Same things happens to me all the time recently. Whenever I do smt in a folder (E,g, extract a rar file.) I cannot delete that folder. TC empties the content but cannot remove the folder. After restarting TC, only then it can remove the folder.
