Dear TC-ers,
Is it possible to show a "line-number" or how you would call it, of the files in the file-lists?
I mean very simple: just show 1, 2, 3 ... 1001, 1002 before the files. Those numbers would always stay the same, not related to the files or their sort-order, only a help for showing the line-number.
It is relevant for me when checking long lists of files that I e.g. compare with a spreadsheet with hundreds of names, to see if they are complete and in the exact same order.
I looked in the Config Options, and also in the custom columns, but could not find it.

Re: Show line-number in file list
This is currently not possible (if it has to be unrelated to sort order)
I think it could be a useful feature if it comes with a cm_command so it can easily be turned on and off.
You should put a request for it here: https://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewforum.php?f=14

Re: Show line-number in file list
There is a messy workaround using WinScriptAdvanced and an AHK script.

Re: Show line-number in file list
Or temporarily add a counter in front of the file names using the multi rename tool?
Re: Show line-number in file list
That is not independent of the sort order, which was the requestwhite wrote: 2022-10-13, 15:55 UTC Or temporarily add a counter in front of the file names using the multi rename tool?

Ah yes, I misunderstood. It could be updated with a click of a button though (by using a stored rename operation).
