file selection with directories et al

Post by *ddt »

Is there a way to make TC select files AND directories when u do CTRL+A?

Another thing thats really annoying is when you hold SHIFT down and make a selection of files with the up/down arrow keys and overshoot, if you try to back up it wont deselect the files.

Just try this, start at a file and hold shift then move down several files then move back up several then BACK down , youll see it will then deselect on the 2nd time down.
Its the most screwed up behaviour i have ever seen.

One more thing I dont like is when you right click in the file window the context is for a file and it automatically selects the file even of you not over then name. In explorer you have to be over the text of the filename to get that context menu, if you out in 'empty space' then you get a different menu with stuff like paste,new-> etc.
Is there a workaround for any of these things?

:) Hello !

directories when u do CTRL+A?
- Configuration >> Options >> Operation >> Tick the box: Also select directories.
- Please, give a look in the Help / Tutorial.
1. TC is highly configurable, from the Options and from the <wincmd.ini> file entries too.
2. TC is not an Explorer-clone, it has its own features. All that you tell can be changed / tweaked.
• Please, read the Famous Manual.
- Many screen-shots in the free Tutorial (link just below in my signature)

The selection is done when you 'leave' the file with pressed [shift]. So when you realize that you are too far, the file the cursor is on is not selected. So if you go back with [shift] this last file is selected while the next one is deselected. So you'll have to release [shift] , move one up and press [shift] again and move to the last file you want have selected (i.e. one more than you want to deselect).
This behavior may be unusual but it's consistent..

A short right-click on the 'current directory' above the file window does the trick. If you do not know what I mean, please press [F1] and click on '3. a. User interface'.
