Foldersync bug(?)

Post by *cigam »

I looked at an older save. I downloaded a zip file from the cloud. I didn't unzip it, I just entered it in TC. I compared it with the original local files.

- Why are the files in the zip 1 hour apart?
- In 2022, I would expect that the use of national characters would not be a problem. (e.g. it doesn't list "iCloud Mail" as a difference because it doesn't have a Hungarian accented vowel)

Do you have Options > Operation > (NTFS daylight saving correction) "Ignore 1 hour time delay" enabled? If so, I guess this is due to ZIP saving timestamps in local time while NTFS and other filesystems save them in UTC.

Well, the ZIP archive format is very old and thus quite limited. TC has various options on how to save characters that are outside on the ANSI charset(s). See Options > Zip packer > Pack Unicode names. Keep in mind that some of these options limit compatibility with other archivers.

Note that you won't have these issues with other archive formats such as RAR and 7Z.

Tnx the answer!
- The original files not in local (NTFS) filesystem. I use NAS, and SMB sharing.
- I try the 7zip.
