Re: QuickSearch eXtended
is there something like QuickSearch for the standard windows file open dialog? so annoying without...
it does not need to have as many features as QuickSearch eXtended.

Re: QuickSearch eXtended
There is the Quick Switch AHK script which shows the current TC windows
as option in standard Open/Save dialogs.
What does QuickSwitch do? - the short version
When in a file dialog, like Save As .. or Open ... , it can switch that dialog to any folder that is opened in a file manager.
Currently supported file managers: File Explorer, Directory Opus, Total Commander and XYPlorer.

Re: QuickSearch eXtended
There's a new feature in TotalCmd 11:
Directory history:
- Quick search in whole path by starting search strings with an asterisk
But seems this plugin can't do this, so for now, it restricts the quick search in dir histories to the LAST part of the whole path.

Still no news about this tcmatch.dic bug ?Samuel wrote: 2018-08-11, 19:57 UTC... I could reproduce it. However solving this would probably need a rewrite.

Looks like you should pay attention on a new child window - from which your plugin could be called.
https://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=431780#p431780
we have a bug - when GUI elements of your plugin are being rendering below the new child window: "Hot-Dirs" menu.
Related pics look at the first post of mentioned topic.

Re: QuickSearch eXtended
I have not yet tried TC 11.
When searching for "bla" it would be nice if the most relevant entries could be placed first:
As there is nothing like this Rank, I use only the last part of the path (file or folder) for matching otherwise there could be many irrelevant results.
So this is as intended, as the API misses a rank.
The QuickSearch-API of TC only contains a "yes or no"-decision. There is nothing like a ranking of the results.Max33Verstappen wrote: 2023-05-15, 10:18 UTC There's a new feature in TotalCmd 11:

Code: Select all
C:\Folder 1\bla.txt - Rank 1 - match in filename (starting with search string)
C:\Folder 2\bla.txt - Rank 1 - match in filename (starting with search string)
C:\Folder 1\123bla.txt - Rank 1 - match in filename (containing search string)
C:\Folder 2\123bla.txt - Rank 1 - match in filename (containing search string)
C:\bla\file.txt - Rank 2 - match in parent folder
C:\bla\Folder 1\file.txt - Rank 3 - match in grandparent folder
C:\bla\Folder 2\file.txt - Rank 3 - match in grandparent folder
C:\bla\Folder 3\file.txt - Rank 3 - match in grandparent folder
C:\bla\Folder 4\file.txt - Rank 3 - match in grandparent folder
So this is as intended, as the API misses a rank.
I am not looking into this. Code proposals are welcome.
I will perhaps look into this later on. Code proposals are welcome.AntonyD wrote: 2023-05-18, 13:50 UTC 2Samuel

Re: QuickSearch eXtended
Nothing like this should apply when your plugin is called for this new object - a menu with frequently used directories. In it, the work of the filter should support both the search in the middle and the search with * - because it is only a list of text strings, not objects of the file system. As there is nothing like this Rank, I use only the last part of the path (file or folder) for matching otherwise there could be many irrelevant results.
So this is as intended, as the API misses a rank.
