Move files back to original place

Hi all,
My data has a structure consisting of many subfolder. For an analysis, I have to temporarily put all files in 1 single folder. However, after the analysis I'd like to place the files back in their original subfolder. What is the best way to do this?

I figured that I could beforehand copy the original paths and put these in a .txt file, but then I still need a way to let TC move the files to the path as indicated in the .txt file.

I have this task sometimes. For me it is enough to copy all files to an empty single folder, do the analysis you want and then delete this folder. Maybe this is good for you, too because you say "I'd like to place the files back in their original subfolder". So this means that you don't delete any files. Of course you need lots of space and time if you have large amount of data.

Uniquness of filenames is a must of course.

Another solution would probably be to have a list as you say and then use .bat to move them back.

Perhaps Branch view (Ctrl+B) is helpful to you. Then it only looks as though all files are in the same folder.

@miskox I considered the copying however it's multiple TB's of data so this would be the last solution. Using a .bat sounds interesting. I'll do some research on that! Thanks

@white thanks, however, the analysis program can't read the files from TC, so this unfortunately won't work.

Why not make symbolic links and remove these afterwards?

@white I tried this. However, the analysis software doesn't know what to do with this file since it's no longer .wav
