Is it possible to implement the following behavior?
1. Open a tab, set a sorting order (e. g. by date descending) or two orders (e. g. type and date).
2. Lock the tab in any mode.
3. Desired behavior: TC treats any change of the sorting order as a directory change (opening a new tab or marking the current one "!" depending on the locking mode).
This can be extremely convenient for keeping a tab with a given folder always sorted in the same way.

We are not so S.M.A.R.T. as we imagine...

You can make a View Mode with the desired sorting and then an Auto Switch Mode for the specific folder - then the sorting will be enabled each time you open the folder tab.keeping a tab with a given folder always sorted in the same way.
