TC FTP needs a lot of improvements...

Post by *MonkY »

I think the title of this thread says it all. I can't live/work without TC, and lately FTP client started helping me a lot (specially with administrating via ftp my websites)... But i get so many errors... disconnections that never happen with FlashFXP (for example)... or after editing some ftp files, and trying to upload them after finishing editing, transfer fail, and my whole work lost (if i am lucky i can find the edited file in the Temporary directory, reconnect, and upload the edited file manually).

I know some of you will say THEN GO AND USE FLASHFXP. Well, i could do that, but it's much harder to work with both programs, editing in TC and then starting FlashFXP. Plus, if it's an inside feature, then why not use it without bugs ? :) I hope it will be fixed in the next version. Thx Ghisler !

Have you tried to check the option: "Use passive mode for transfers (like a WWW browser)". :?:

I have some FTP-sites that worked very badly until I checked that option :!:

"Send command to keep connection alive:" might also help.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

If the filename contains some Chinese, Japanese charactor, TC's FTP client sometimes crashed :-(

Yes. I did. In fact none of the ftp's i connect to don't work without passive mode checked.

What i ment is that usually it's simply not changing dirs... on slow connections i don't even use it, because it will surely cause errors. For example, i even encountered problems like, after editing a file, trying to upload, it's starting to upload, then crash. This cause the file on server to become 0KB size... and even after looking in temp dir.. no backup copy. That's why when using TC usually i do some backup dirs before starting editing... and that's really bad. Hope Ghisler can improve this. I am sure he can :)
