HELP PLEASE!: I lost my accents

Post by *sgarrido »

I'm spanish and I use Totalcmd since the 3.0 registered version.

I love this program and I have had no problem until the other day.

I was viewing the file content wroten in russian with Totalcmd using F3. Since that, I can't see the spanish signs in all programs. I tried a lot of solutions and I still have the same problem.

What can I do?

Thanks to all. I hope you answer please.

Hi, sgarrido!

Can you post a link to the file you were viewing?

Do you have this problem only with lister or also with other programs?

Have you tried using the different Lister view methods (A - ANSI, S - ASCII, V - Variables)?

Greetings!

Following is is spanish text version, go read it, Ghisler! It's not that hard! :-)

Code: Select all

¡Hola sgarrido!

¿Puedes pasar un link del fichero que causo el problema?

¿Tienes el problema solo con el Lister o también con otros programas?

¿Has probado usando los diferentes metodos del Lister (A - ANSI, S - ASCII, V - Variables)?

Un saludo!

I suppose it has something to do with regional settings.

Take a look in Control Panel -> Regional Settings.
(Panel de Control -> Configuración regional y de idioma)

Please be sure all languages shown in all tabs are Spanish (Español - España).

Good luck!

Thank you very much again CoMike.

Yes, I have all tabs are Spanish in Regional Settings.

I have even changed all options in the conversion table (tabla de conversion de paginas de codigo) to leave them the same as in another PC without this problem.

I don't know, if this is the same in all languages: my Windows-Version (german) has got a default hotkey for changing the language. It is (or better 'was') Alt + Shift.

Sometimes, when I used the TC-Hotkey Alt + Shift + Space, I changed the language without any notice. That's why I turned off all of these hotkeys for language-changings. This can be done at the place, CoMike already said.

Then you can try if it's a font problem. Perhaps some program has replaced your default font or default font encoding.

Test if it also happens changing your default font to Arial, for example, in screen properties -> appearance -> advanced options.

Yes, I had thought in that. I try with Verdana, Courier New and nothing, but with Fixedsys font it works well.

Then I have corrupts my fonts, no?

I have compared my fonts with the fonts of the cd of windows xp and they are identical. :?

Just curious.

Go to lister options, and click on variable font selection button.

If you select Tahoma or Microsoft Sans Serif, what alphabets can you select and what's the default one?

Yes, it's correct.
If you have Xp Spanish and finally you can not find a solution to this problem you can try to reinstall Xp over the old version using Repair option.

Or you can try to reinstall fonts,
