F4 menu edit, open multiple at once, apply different editors based on extension with 1 request

Post by *igarny »

Hi guys,

Recently I have been hinted about TCFS2, which should provide quite an automation on top of Total Commander.
Since I have no idea, how that would work, would you be give me hints or share a script with similar functionality that would do one of these 2 objectives
1. execute a different editor based on file extension
2. process the list of selected files in the TC GUI.. for example from the %P%S params

Since Total Commander supports internal custom associations on file extensions already since v7.50, I was wondering, if I am missing something in the TC v10.52 menu / functionality, which would help me to avoid the limitation of the v4 version which assigns a single editor with a single parameter "%1"

Many thanks,
Ivan

TCFS2 won't help here. You need to look this way.

@Shanny still rocks. F4 Menu app is the best even in its outdated vision and version. viewtopic.php?t=17003

[Edit]
I have no memory from where I got my version, but I have the F4 Menu 0.59, which is dated as 30.Nov.2010. I believe that was a Russian collection "сборка". I have found it working with TC v10.52 x64.

I can easily configure:
- open multiple files at once
- open different editors based on extension
- have no annoying popups for intermediate actions.... for fans of menus: I would just suggest the context menu

As previously stated...
It is sad that Total Commander has:
- support for %P%S
- since the beginning of Earth TC has an implementation and a configuration section for the Viewer, which automatically spawns the correct tool to view files, but has totally neglected the Editor options
- since v7.50 TC introduced support for internal associations ... and nothing about the Editor

As a result I just had to create myself an internal command to properly initiate the F4 Menu app and ignore the Editor section

STILL Total Commander is the BEST! Long live the KING!
