Post by *petermad »

Is there any differnce between the functionality of the new command cm_QuickSearch and the old cm_ShowQuickSearch command?

cm_QuickSearch Show name search window, quick filter off
The command disables the quick filter, unlike cm_ShowQuickSearch.
You can use a quick search in the filtered list.

Aha I see, cm_ShowQuickSearch uses the last used setting of the fileter, whereas cm_QuickSearch doesn't - thanks :-)

But the main difference is in the unconditional activation of quick search. This was the essence of my request for DC analogues. cm_ShowQuickSearch activates not a quick search, but a quick filter if you have the "Letters - with search dialog" option on the "Quick Search" settings page.

It is not the setting of Quick Search in the options page has that determines whether cm_ShowQuickSearch is opening the search dialog in filtering mode or not.

In the same TC session cm_ShowQuickSearch opens up in the filtering mode that was last used (changed by clicking the filter icon in the search dialog), Between TC sessions cm_ShowQuickSearch opens the search dialog up in the filtering mode saved according to the QuickSearchAutoFilter parameter in TC's .ini file.
Help wrote:QuickSearchAutoFilter=0
0: Automatic quick search filter (Ctrl+S) disabled
1: Automatic quick search filter (Ctrl+S) enabled
-1:Like 0, but do not save state when closing TC (filter always disabled at startup)
2: Like 1, but do not save state either (filter always on when starting TC)
Since I use QuickSearchAutoFilter=-1 I did not immediately notice the difference between using cm_ShowQuickSearch and the unconditional cm_QuickSearch

You are right, let it be not a dialog and the corresponding AltSearch key, but the one you specified, but the essence of unconditional activation of quick search when using cm_QuickSearch doesn't change from this.
