6.5 MB is really large... on my 80 GB disk the treeinfo.wc is ~400kB. As already said you can safely delete it, it gets recreated upon Alt-F10, F2 for instance.
In Filemon you should check if another program causes the slowdown or if TC itself somehow screws up. Maybe you can chcek what happens now that you've removed treeinfo.wc - if there are still hundreds of accesses.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
