new feature request: search inside RTF-documents

Post by *leopoldus »

TC's Lister does handle RTF format, but TC's search function does not. A bit unlogical in my opinion, isn't it?

Works in Lister

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello !
- The Search works in Lister when you display a *.RTF file in that mode… F7 or even Ctrl+F - F5 finds the next occurance…

 Kind regards,
Claude

RTF is almost plain text format - you can see it if you open it in Lister and press 1. English chars are stored in ASCII but other codepages are stored as \'e7\'e8. Unfortunatly RTF contains TAGS which could make searching much harder...

Yes, this is the point. Searching by non-english keystring TC findes all plaint text, HTML, MS Word - but not RTF documents with this keystring.

TC doesn't contain an RTF to Text converter, therefore it can only search in the RTF code. The RTF viewer is simply Microsoft's RTF control, which is also used for example by Wordpad.
