Keyboard shortcuts does not display in some dialogs

Post by *Xyzzy »

Hello!

Is some dialogs, like Synchronize dirs or Compare files, letters for shortcuts are not underscored, however the shortcuts work OK.
XP SP2.
Some kind of problem?

Hi Xyzzy,

welcome on board.

Which letter is underscored and used for shortcuts, is defined in the used *.mnu-file (Help 4.c). If a "&" is set before a letter, this one will be used as a shortcut (e.g. "&Open"). If no "&" is used, the first letter of an entry is used. This is, why shortcuts even work, when no underscore is displayed.

Best regards,
Marc

The '&'s are there, but are simply not displayed. Fe. in Synchronize directories dialog there is shortcut 'S&ynchronizuj" (Polish for Synchronize) and it works, however y is not uderscored.

BTW, shortcuts in Configuration dialog are completely useless imo.

XP has special feature that hide underlined letters
to disable it go to Control Panel> Display> Appearance tab then press Effects... button and uncheck this option "Hide underlined letters ..."
and apply new settings
you sholud now see underlined letters

Bingo! Thanks.

This (Windows) feature seems to work inconsistently, though. But it's M$'s fault.

IMO they are not.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

The problem is that TC gets no notification from Windows to show the underlined letters - it seems to work only in Windows dialogs, not in Delphi forms. Please let me know if anyone has managed to get it to work! It works fine for example in Windows 2000.

Workaround: If you open the dialog with the keyboard, it will have the underlined characters from the beginning.
