Incremental filter for Directory Hotlist
When the Directory hotlist grows with new entries and nested categories/sub-menus, it becomes increasingly difficult to find a specific folder.
Most times we know the folder's name (or its approximate name), so an incremental filter to leave the ones matching/containing the typed portion would be great and help locating and switching to a folder much faster and efficient.
Regards.

Re: Incremental filter for Directory Hotlist
It does not affect the "Directory Hotlist" now - but it is also helpful.
It's off topic but I'll leave the text as it is because maybe it will help in some way.
I use QuickSearch eXtended to filter the history.
There is a detailed description of this here.
A Quick Search is also possible:
Alt+Cursor down -OR- Alt+Shift+Cursor down, *Search term
-OR-
Alt+Cursor down -OR- Alt+Shift+Cursor down, Ctrl+S, Search term

Re: Incremental filter for Directory Hotlist
Maybe it is time for the Directory Hotlist to be made work more like the new Directory History list and Folder Tabs list - with Quick search, and Context menu for tasks like Delete item, Hide item, Edit Item, Show items sorted/unsorted, etc.

Re: Incremental filter for Directory Hotlist
The problem is that the directory hotlist can have subfolders. It would then work more like the dropdown parts of the breadcrumb bar, but quick search would be limited to one subfolder...

It would still be a big improvement IMHO.but quick search would be limited to one subfolder...

Just as a note:ghisler(Author) wrote: 2023-08-04, 07:18 UTC ... but quick search would be limited to one subfolder...
Since August 3rd, 2023 there is a similar function from Everything 1.5.0.1353a -> "Bookmarks Sidebar",
which can deal with seemingly arbitrary "subfolders" (submenus).
I ran a test with 10 "subfolders"/submenus.
Menu [sub]titles as well as field contents can be searched(!).
'Everything' 1.5.0.1354a (x64) - "Portable on system drive C:"
Re: Incremental filter for Directory Hotlist
Because of what was said before, you could take the idea even further...
At the place of the separate directory tree you could show a sidebar.
Purpose:
Incremental search queries which can display not only the titles but also all field contents.
A dropdown field with the following choices:
- Directory Hotlist
- Folder Tabs list
- Start menu
- Buttonbar including subbuttonbars
- History
- Ignore list
- ALL (i.e. all dropdown selectable topics)
Below a filter field:
For incremental search queries which display not only the titles but also all field contents.
(With all field contents e.g. also the tooltips to the buttons are meant).

Re: Incremental filter for Directory Hotlist
In my opinion, the following also fits in with this topic:
A dropdown field with the following choice:
- Everything
References:
- "Total Commander -> "Find As You Type" feature for Everything searches"
- Quick Search floating window, "Go to anything"
