Renaming files/folders --> keeping input when clicking away

Post by *paprr »

Hello,

When I rename a file or a folder in TC, I often use long strings of text with for example the city, street, number, name, etc. in the file/folder name.
However, a lot of the times I'm used to quickly alt-tabbing to another program to check the name or whatever to make sure it's right.
In Windows explorer, when you "click away" or "alt-tab away" when inputting a file/folder name, it automatically saves what you have typed so far.

Is this possible too in TC? What happens now is that I have half the string correctly, click away to check what should be next and the entire string is gone again so you have to start the rename over.

I know you can press enter first to save, but it has become such a second nature over the years of Windows Explorer that I keep forgetting it

No, it's not.

In such cases you should use F6 instead of Shift+F6 to get a separate renaming dialog which doesn't cancel the renaming operation when TC loses focus.
