Ctrl+mouse wheel: zoom in&out font size in list view
Been using TC for year and year.
I can recall working on 15" screen with Norton Commander and TC.
Over time i switched to bigger screens, now 35" screen.
Noticed I use Ctrl Mouse Wheel when browsing nowadays a lot. (even now)
I would very much appreciate zoom in and out functionality in the base TC window. Could this be possible?
Regards
Rob

Could you please a little bit more specific ?... zoom in and out functionality
Are you taking about changing the window size, font size or anything else?

Like the way explorer do that with CTRL-Mousewheel, its rotating views as follow:
1. Extra large Icons --> all available sizes
2. Large Icons --> all available sizes
3. Medium Icons --> all available sizes
4. Small Icons --> all available sizes
5. List
6. Details
7. Tiles
8. Content

Re: Feature request: Ctrl+mouse wheel: zoom in&out
behavior as found in chrome/firefox, m$word etc etc etc. open the application, do Ctrl Mouse Wheel up and/or down and you can see the result font size change. i can imagine that this functionality would not impact the font size of the dialogs. (it doesnt on the above mentioned apps). just try the above in the above apps and the get the point what i mean.
very handy if you find folders and files with names such as:
10lo
l0lo
l0lO
i010
1ol0.
1ol0..
(etc. etc. etc.)
(and yes these are all different folder names.)
tip: you may want do do this *now*: do Ctrl Mouse wheel when you see this reply and the folder example above will be more readable (at least for me with my 60+ eyes). then you can see better the differences between o O 1 l i etc. just do it.

Re: Ctrl+mouse wheel: zoom in&out font size in list view
Due to how the TC GUI is programmed (listbox vs listview) there may be no (easy) way in implementing that request.
But at least you could use "cm_FontConfig" as button command to open the Font dialog whenever you need it more easier, yes, still cumbersomely.

Re: Ctrl+mouse wheel: zoom in&out font size in list view
It would be amazingly convenient to be able to use CTRL + mousewheel up/down to increase/decrease font size in the main window.
Especially with today's hi-res/hi-DPI screens it would be very useful, and for those who often switch screens, resolutions and/or Windows scaling settings. (Yes, that includes me.)

If the author had at least made the CHANGEFONTSIZE <FONTSIZE> command, we could get the result with Autorun_Tweaks.dll.

Re: Ctrl+mouse wheel: zoom in&out font size in list view
Unfortunately changing the font size also changes the width of the size, date and time fields. This would either lead to overlaps or to extra space between the fields.
I can understand why such a feature is useful in a Web browser or Word because the texts can have varying font sizes with titles, subtitles, tables etc. But Total Commander uses a single font for the file lists, so the user can set it to a size with (for him) good visibility then then keep it that way. Why would he want to scale it? When he has different screens with varying DPI, he can save the font size for each screen separately.

That's exactly in order not to do this with every change of monitor/DPI, including when changing working conditions, this is required.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2022-08-07, 08:49 UTCWhen he has different screens with varying DPI, he can save the font size for each screen separately.
In addition, a person's eyes can get tired and the focus of vision worsens during the day. In such a situation, you need to quickly zoom in.

I think it's time to add a separate font settings for file panels in order to zoom the font without breaking the display of other components.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2022-08-07, 08:49 UTC Unfortunately changing the font size also changes the width of the size, date and time fields.

Yes, indeed it would be a very appreciated feature, especially nowadays.
BTW my personal use case is when I open TC on my 13" sub-Notebook with High density FUll HD display (120 dpi) and then move the window to my 24" Full HD display which has 96 dpi (and/or vice-versa). Very difficult to find a font size that is acceptably readable in both of them (not too big on low-dpi, not too small on high-dpi)
Font scaling should be applied to File view and Lister windows.
